Hey folks! I've picked up a few 5th Year students taking Classics outside of school this year & all these circulars about the project are really confusing as to whether the SEC will accept it with private tuition. My principal was looking through it & even he thought the language was contradictory. So I was just wondering if there are any others in this situation, especially with students in 6th Year now, who have found a workaround or know what they're doing going forward? Thanks!

I wonder if an extra-curricular classes could be arranged with a local educational centre for a more affordable price? The grinds schools courses are often too expensive for most students.
I suppose this would mean that students might need to be submitted through a school that has Classics timetabled - whether during the normal day or after. If it's agreed upon by the school to accept this.
I know that in Ashfield I have external students with Classics timetabled after school hours. The external students upload their work via their own school portal. They then send the P3 Form to me and the principal in Ashfield to sign giving authentication to the work uploaded as an extra curricular subject. The subject is timetabled and the principal and myself sign this saying the student in question completed the course through Ashfield and a timetabled subject.
I'm not sure how this can be effected in your case. You have timetabled classes with your tutored students but not through your school or theirs. It will likely depend on what tye SEC is classifying as Home Tuition and what criteria they expect from such circumstances - does this mean that all home schooled/tutored students must do the course through a timetabled class in some education centre/school?
The upcoming mandatory 40% coursework for all subjects is definitely going to have a negative effect on home tuition then.

If I'm reading this correctly, students who use a home tutor ONLY will not be able to submit coursework.
However, it states that if the parents/students and their home tutor liase with a school (presumably their own school), they will be able to submit the coursework. I presume the school and one of their own staff will need to coordinate with the tutor and parents to authenticate the coursework.
But I'm not sure whether this is only relating to Home Schooled children, or whether it is applicable to those being home schooled in Classical Studies only.
But perhaps it's worth sending an email to the SEC directly to get clearer information. They provide an email in the circular.
